New Delhi May 18 Maruti Udyog Ltd has said that the company is equipping its cars with Immobiliser, an anti-theft device. Cars fitted with the device would be soon available at all its showrooms across the country.

Due to the Immobiliser, there has been a marginal price change in the range of Rs 1,000 to Rs 4,300 (Ex-showroom, Delhi) for various Maruti models.

Immobiliser, branded as iCATs (Intelligent Computerised Anti-Theft System), is an electronic system that works on digitally encrypted codes on the car key fob.

The car starts only after the code in the iCATs matches with the corresponding code on the Electronic Control Unit of the car.

"We have been concerned at the increasing number of car thefts and the loss and inconvenience caused to our customers.

"The factory fitted iCATs will provide the customer a fool-proof device that prevents theft of their cars," said Mr Jagdish Khattar, Managing Director and CEO, Maruti Udyog Ltd.
